Racing Ralphs are approx 460g each,in a 2.1.Been very pleased with mine.Speed kings are 400g ,in a 2.1(claimed)if you opt for the supersonic version. If you want to go really light Maxxis do a 300g tyre,at approx £50 per tyre!

Conti do supersonic tubes aswell at 100g each,or you could go tubeless,if you want to save even more.......

Maxxis Flywieghts come in at 330g each. They are light, very very light. However, expect punctures, even when riding on the road, and you'll have to carry a puncture repair kit for the tyre!

For 'general' XC use, I've got Panracer XC Fire Pro's, which come it at around 560g each (2.1). I also have some Panracer Trailrakers, for wet/muddy conditions which are approx 400g each (1.8).

Go with the Continentals. Either Speed Kings or Explorers in supersonic guises.
  • another good one is the pananracer razer MX in 2.3 comes in at only 530 grams however has great level of grip and is fast as a fast thing. they always do well in the reviews also. They do a puncutre protection version which is 100g more also. Iv'e used them for a while and they are great.
