snapped chain

I have just put a new set of chain rings a new cassette and a sram951 chain on my bike and the chain snapped after about 10 miles is this common my last 951 did 8 months trouble free

    Obviously a new chain shouldn't snap, it was either not put on correctly or there was a fault or it was put under excessive load, either way speak to the people at the place you bought it and get a new one
