What do people recommend. A friend has an old version of Fugawi with full UK coverage, good but the maps are way out of date. Other brands I've looked is the OS memory map and Anquet though both on pricing and coverage Fugawi is looking good (£140 ish for full UK coverage

and £47 for mid England and Wales, which is where I cycle most) at 1:50k.

One of my chief concerns is how frequently map data is updated, I don't want to spend this sort of money if the maps will be out of date in a month or two which with the rate cycleways are being created round Manchester, could easily happen.
I mainly want the ability to print out custom maps .
Any suggestions

I use Memory Map and find it very good. As well as the 1:50k for the whole country I've also got quite a few Explorer series where I tend to cycle. However, as you say, the maps will outdate fairly quickly
Cost was about £160 http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetail.aspx?Cat=cycle&ProdID=5360020811&N=Memory%20Map%201:50,000%20Whole%20Country%20Standard%20Edition0 -

Any idea if Memory Map is any better/worse than the fugawi stuff?Fat bloke, on a nice-ish bike.0 -
Sorry, never tried fugawi, but you could try free trials of both and decide. Looks pretty similar to me from the website. Just check that they interface with your gps well.0

I have Memory Map for the Lakes, and Tracklogs for everywhere else. I prefer Tracklogs, but it's probably horses for courses.

Anquet have just launched a new download service so you don't have to wait for CD's to be shipped. That would appeal to me if I hadn't bought the other stuff.

Also, I wouldn't want to navigate much off 1:50000. I'd prefer 1:25000, although the costs go up.0 -

Same here, the 1:50 is just about usable, but for where I cycle I've also got the 1:25.0 -
Same for me, I went for Tracklogs because of the 1:25000 coverage over the whole country rather than the limited 1:25000 coverage of Memory Map.
I also like the fact that you can define the area you want to cover (within reason) with Tracklogs so although probably more expensive in the long run its cheaper each time you buy a new map, you just get the area you want to cover. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result0 -
I saw a reference to a thing called Quo (http://mapyx.com/) in another thread that also looks interesting (and cheap at less than £100 for full UK 1:50k maps).Fat bloke, on a nice-ish bike.0
