Hello,
Can anyone help a non-techy building a bike on the cheap out?
Have a 2004 Trek frame, just got a Magura Ronin 80mm Fork. Says disc or firm-tech only.
Firstly, what's firm-tech?
Second, any ideas on a decent (ish) cheap set of wheels / brakes?
would these work?

If so, what size?
Thanks!!!!
Adam

Those should work fine.160mm front and rear is fine for most xc.185mm only required if you are heavy.203mm only required if you are dh merchant/ mental..........
Trek 8500,is a nice light xc frame so I reckon the 160mm would most likely suit.
Good wheels, good brakes, bargan for the price.
The photo shows an adaptor for post mount or is,so should be OK either way.I assume you have the 2 hole tabs on the frame and fork for disc fitting? Its a 2004 so it ought to have, but best to check.....
You have the makings of a nice bike,there.2006 Giant XTC
