HTML codes in Edit mode

Can someone show me how to activate HTML characteristics when I edit my Qualifying Rides post in Rides/Century a Month? I want to put the date, for instance, in bold but when I try to edit my original post to do that, it ignores me. All that happens is that the HTML codes appear as well, as plain text. I suspect it's because I have the Option "HTML is OFF", but I can't find a way to toggle that either. Was it something I should have done with the original post?

    i think i have fixed it for you. you had disabled bbc in the post. tick box below posting window.
