Coming off coke ( Pepsi Max actually )

As part of the fitness / cycling thingy in summer, I tried cutting back on the amount of Pepsi max I was drinking - after diluting it with rum most of the time. About a month ago, I stopped drinking it completely for a week and I had really bad headaches for a day or two which I've been told is caffeine withdrawal ! I went back to drinking it for a week or so but have now managed to slowly ween myself off it more gradually, without the bad headaches.
Kids - don't do coke ( or pepsi, etc ) !

same happens with coffee. If you want a really bad headache for a fortnight, stop drinking coffee and alcohol, lie back and feel the agony. It is bloody awful. However, at the end of the fortnight, the headaches clear and suddenly you have more time and energy on your hands than you ever thought possible. You feel self-righteous, proud, fit and optimistic. You can do anything.
Then someone hands you a glass of wine, you are too polite to refuse, you find it strangely desirable and have eight more. The next morning nothing can console you other than a venomous triple espresso. And it's back to reality.
Kids, live clean, not mean.0 -
I cut out coke almost three years ago and haven't had a drop since. I had got to the point where I was drinking a few litres when I got to work at 8am - not good.
I'm cutting out wine for a while now - last night was my last glass. I've tried this many times but find that around 6pm when the kids are at their most obnoxious, I really need to have one.

I "think" Pepsi Max is my only vice0

Pepsi max is evil. It took me a year to get off that back in the late 90's.
Just go cold turkey and drink lots of water and OJ - it'll be a crap week but you'll feel better afterwards.0 -
Not a massive fan of coke or pepsi, but I gave up beer last week and am struggling already. Why do so many bars/pubs serve such appalling quality wine??

I moved from fat coke to coke zero recently after years of hating diet coke (dunno why, but I'm not a pepsi fan).
I drink about a can a day and maybe the odd glass in the evening. It doesn't bother me too much about the caffiene as I don't drink tea or coffee, and when I don't drink coke I don't notice any side effects.0 -
I cut down when they started putting the nutritional info labels on coke cans. 47% of your RDA of sugar, crikey.0

i find coke and pepsi really starnge, i can happily go weeks without drinking any, then all of a sudden i'll crave it and drink about 3 cans a day for a couple of days then just forget about it and not drink it again. Think it's the caffiene hit that i crave, although i drink tea i find cold bubbly caffiene far more of a hit when i feel really drained0

I am not alone then
They say caffeine is the most widely taken drug in the world. My skin and concentration have improved but I miss the taste ( or is that the devil on my shoulder )0 -
I barely drink the stuff, I can almost feel my teeth rot when I do... saying that sometimes it hits the spot.
a nice cup of coffee/espresso is awesome I ain't giving that up... anyone else tried Monmoth (londoners only I guess)Purveyor of sonic doom

That's the devil. My eyes are no longer panda-like after dumping caffiene from my daily routine.0 -

one week without booze!
I really missed a nice glass of red on Saturday night and my husband did offer to go and get me some but I resisted. I may allow one glass this Saturday night. Strange thing is that now I've stopped drinking, I've got a really bad cold.0 -

Conclusive evidence that being tee total is bad for you.
I haven't had a cold in years and I reckon it's the Stella/Krononburg/Magners/wine/occasional brandy that keeps me fighting fit :?Beer, the reason my ambitions have not become my achievements0
