What are the distances people have covered on their SS's. I'm just going back into the fray, this time with a better conversion than last time. During my first experience I used to pootle around town on it but did venture from Sharpness to Avonmouth via Thornbury, a distance of around 28 miles. From memory this took me only another 30 mins longer than on geared MTB. What totals can others 'boast' of?
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Did the second bridges night ride few months ago with londonfgss lot.

brick lane to kew bridge to meet others, then over every bridge in london all the way back to grenwich. didnt make grenwich as my mates bottom bracket decided to die half way there.

dunno how long it was. but i started at 10.30 and got home at 7am.

    Good fun.
  • Was that a copy of the fridaynightride.com 20 bridges too far ride a couple weeks ago?

I did that singlespeed, longest one ive done single has to be the dun run, not bad pace either.

  • I've done the Dunwich Dynamo too, but on fixed. Plus an extra 10 or so miles to a friends house for sleep. So, about 130 miles or so.

Next time though, I'd like to do it with some other fixed riders - it was pretty hard work keeping up with the geared riders on the downhill bits, but nice dropping them on the way up again.
  • yeh, i wanna do it on fixed next time. probably breakless too as i cant fit breaks to either of my fixies.

It is great leaving the geared bikes on the ups eh.
