Why is it going to be 7 speed?
How much money you got? I'd definitely set a budget for this, they can easily spiral out of control.0 -
well i get paid each month 200pound but i will save up. and its only an idea to be seven, what were you thinking? but ive only got a front sprocket with a 42 cog on it...:/0

I wouldn't go near 7 speed at this stage, they changed the cassettes and hubs when going to 8 speed. You might aswell go to 9 speed.
I'd go for LX cassette/ derailler/shifter and an SRAM chain. How much travel do you want on the forks?0 -
well i was thinking 120mm cuz that is what it is recommended at.0

What wheels have you got? I'd imagine that you want this for hard abuse so i'd recommend some sort of very short black style stem (see truative hussefelt)
Easton Downhill bars or EA70
SRAM chain
New xt derraileurs or SRAM x-7
shifter older xt or sram x-7
Fork probably pikes
FSA pig
Personal preferance for seat, but Ti railed bell air would probably work
Wellgo MG1
ODI lockon in your preferred style
XT cassette0 -
are fsa pig headsets sealed bearings?
I have got a set of ditchwitch rims
Also if i chose to have lets say sram derailler.. does that mean the chain, shifter and cassette have to be sram?
Be honest, which is better shimano or sram0 -

Does that mean i use a pump to harden them??? :oops:0 -

SRAM rear mech needs a SRAM shifter, due to the actuation ratio. Everything else is cross compatible. I prefer SRAM chains for the ease of the powerlink setup.
Gears are down to personal choice as they both feel different. Shimano tend to feel lighter I believe. I don't think one gear system is "better" as such.0 -

Yes it does. Well i've got some 2004?05? DJ3's that I'm selling (pretty good condition ) and they use a pump to stiffen them up a bit I think. Haven't used them in a while0 -

i'll get some pics and check them over first.0
