Chainslap Problem

I recently built up a cove stiffee but I'm having a terrible problem with chainslap. I'm using a hone crankset with 2 chainrings and a bashguard.and lx derailers. I measured the chain length by putting around the largest chainring and sprocket and adding one link. It's a sram powerlink chain. Whenever I am on technical tracks or going downhill, the chain is bouncing all over the place no matter what gear combination I am in.
Should I just take another couple of links out of the chain or would that make it too short?

You can do that and be careful not to cross run the chain, or buy a new shimano xt dérailleur, they are supposed to stop banging as much. You could also switch to a sram drivetrain, but I doubt you want to do that.0
