by spare arm do u mean non drive side?

I'd try to some threadlock on it, if that doesn't cure then go for new

You should check them periodically, as they tend to work loose under load. If you don't, and they come off, it's usually too late to save them. But try threadlock as a last resort anyway, it might work for a while.

My mate had the same problem. We put on some loctite and hey presto problem solved. :D

Hi yeah i have had the same problem with my Specialized hardrock.
So if anybody can suggest any other reasonable replacements that would be great as a mate of mine has had the exact same problem with his.

(just for the record i have no idea when it comes to biking lingo so talk to me like a child lol)

As far as price is concerned then cheaper the better really but i would be willing to pay a bit more for the extra quality.

Is it just the left hand crank, or the right hand crank?

:D If it's a spare arm, just leave it at home

mine is just the left arm and so is my mates so i am guessing it is a common problem.
its just soooo damn annoying :x

You can often buy seperate left hand cranks.

Halfords sell generic ones, but do check length and axle type (ie square taper, ISIS). I would try the LBS - can often order them in.

Sorry about the joke, couldn't resist.

We used to superglue threads in the aero industry. You could try that, much stronger than loctite but not so strong you can't break it with a socket wrench if you need to take it off.
