Another lights question - sorry!

I have been following other lights threads and they are either too expensive or too cheap for my budget.
I ride XC, mainly Glentress red which would be where most of my night riding would be done.
My budget has crept up and up and I've settled around the £180 to £200 mark.
I was thinking about the NiteRider MiNewt X2 (or Blackburn x4 or Joystick Exposure Maxx) single unit along with the Silva L1 head torch.
There is also the MiNewt x2 dual kit available for £180 but quite like the idea of a separate head light/
I've been keeping an eye on the ayup thread but the risk of import duty would blow my already blown budget!
Is the MiNewt coupled with the head torch the best way for me to go or is there a better set up for the money?
Any advice from people night riding on a similar budget would be much appreciated.

They look really good value and with a cracking battery too.
Do you use them and any idea how much it costs to ship? Couldn't see the shipping prices there.

I have same budget for riding at glentress...i have also looked at Hope LED Vision and Lumicycle LI-on 12w + 20w set up and at the moment i think i might be going with lumi's0

Thanks for the extra confusion! What made you decide on the Lumis? Hopes seem to get the better write up in the bike radar reviews.
Can anyone comment on any of the lights mentioned who is using them?Current steed is a '07 Carrera Banshee X

I bought some lumi's last winter and think they are great, i went for the 20 watt flood and 12 watt spot option that they recommend and have had no problems with them and would advise anyone to get the same. Lust looking to upgrade to an exposure maxx loystick for my lid aswell !0 -
Check out this Australian company for a set of lights for under £200.
You get helmet lights and handle bar lights, with +3 hour burn time.
Best value on the market

Just got mine and they are fantasic.

I decided on lumi's because of the range of outputs available and the twin units ...and didnt fancy leds as at this time of year in this neck of the woods it's usually raining....i see enough of it without lighting it up!0

you near save £100 and the lights are fantastic0 -
I'd cross the Blackburn X4 off the list.I have the X3,and it is convenient, reliable and well constructed the light performance isn't great.I use mine as a helmet mount, and its jus about OK for low speed singletrack.
My Mate's Exposure Race,is in a different league.
I`m going for Hope or Exposure next time.2006 Giant XTC

Ah ha, a set of lights rules out!
Was planning to head down to Glentress tonight and speak to people out and see what they were running but back pain has crept back (+ the gales force winds battering us!).
Sounds like most lights in the price bracket I'm looking at will be sufficient to do the job and each light has it's own fans.Current steed is a '07 Carrera Banshee X

Another vote for Lumicycle from me. I normally use a 10W Flood and 20W Flood when racing. I've recently been experimenting with the 10W flood on a helmet mount, which is pretty good. (battery fits in the backpack)
I've just bought an LED bulb for this set-up, which is supposed to be 20W equivalent, I'll post details when I've used it.0 -
I vote for the Lumi's too, I had been running a 20W Flood and 12W Spot for the last 12 months and they are an awesome set of lights.
If I use just the 12W - which is bright enough for commuting and a track you are fairly familiar with I can get around 4 hours out of it. If I run the 20W as well I can get about 2 hours.
This is with the mid price battery - you can get a more powerful battery which would up the run times to about 6 hours and 3.5 hours respectively.
The only reason I did not go for that was not wanting to go to £250 for a set of lights (£200 somehow seemed more reasonable to the wife).
I think they are a top product and given what you get for your money the top end Li-ion set is better value than the Ay-Ups everyone seems to be so keen on - which work out the same price as the Lumis once you've paid your VAT and Import Duties.0
