Ergo lever spring-fitting nightmare

Hello all,
I have a replacement spring for a veloce 9-speed rh lever (the spring which goes directly behind the brake lever), but am completely unable to fit it. I can get it into position, hooking one end in the down-change lever slot, but when I try to coax the spring round and into the plastic mount it gets almost there and goes Ping! Does anyone have any tips on how I can do this? It really is bloody frustrating.
Ta,
Paul

My experience with servicing Ergos is that growing a third thumb would be distinctly useful. Have you tried clamping the lever body in a vice and theerfore having your two hands free? A selection of jewellers tools i.e. tweezers and small pliers also helps - plus and ample dose of patience!Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Thanks Monty Dog - it's the patience bit I'm bad at. Good to know that there's not something really obvious I'm missing; bad to know that there's no getting away from the fiddliness of the thing. Oh well, I'll get hold of a clamp and see how it goes...0

With experience, you too will grow that third hand that Campagnolo expects it's mechanics to have.....
Fiddly job....right up there with re-assembling freewheels and putting loose balls in headsets. If you're as fat as me, all bikes are bendy.0
