Hi decided to treat myself to a litespeed Titanium frame after riding countless Colnago`s (i know what a traitor eh) the frame came with Easton Carbon forks with a Carbon Steerer.however been to my local shop and he`s shown me 2 broken sets of forks, one broke at the dropout and one broke just above. the shop where i bought the frame told me the forks would be fine ? as makers dont want to be seen as selling a shoddy product but after seeing these 2 forks i have my doubts....not sure about the Carbon Steerer also.....wish i had kept my Colnago Strait chrome forks now...anyone else had problems with easton ??? cheers

Easton products have a good reputation and do offer a lifetime warranty - mind you, not much use when you need a new set of teeth? Was the failure related to a particular model of Easton fork, or more than one - if the first - then avoid that fork - if the latter - try and get them to fit a different make of fork. BTW, if you'd stuck with Colnago, the Star is probably the best handling fork going.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

I'd feel confident in an Easton product. A friend just did Iron Cross with an Easton ec70x. Iron cross is an epic cyclocross race, so if it can deal with that, a good Easton fork should be able to handle the road. There are also plenty of carbon forks in use, and breakages are uncommon.
  • I've been using Easton EC90 SLX forks for over a year on my main road bike without any problems at all. 260 grams of goodness!

The only thing I would say that is very poor is the stupid beartrap external headset adjuster. It constantly works loose. I would replace it with an expanding wedge solution for carbon steerers (FSA make them) which acts just like a star nut.
  • thanks to all........using the EC90 model. was just a bit concerned its been the same model..i know that no product is totally 100% reliable..but when you see 2 in the space of a few months.you start to get the rosary beeds out descending at 40mph and hope your not going to be lying in the road :D

Like Magliaceleset, I have the EC90 SLX forks, they're fine. And again, don't use the "beartrap" mechanism if it's included, I think they've scrapped it now anyway.
