Lumicycle - gone incommunicado

Does anyone know what is going on at Lumicycle.

I've been waiting for a customer service call back for a week, now. Posted one via the website and followed up after a couple of days with an answerphone message.

The first half of last week the message stated they were doing system upgrades and they would get back to me, the second half of the week stated staff illness as the reason for not responding. My suspicious nature is making me worry that a week of varying problems signals company problems maybe?

I've had a pair of the halogen lights and Pro Li ion battery for offroading since this time last year and they've failed. I replaced the lamps assuming it was them and still no go. Could really do with getting them sorted now.

It's a good rumour. I've been half expecting something for a while. The world is going LED, and they've done nothing, not even upgrade their existing LED head into something that you could ride on country lanes with.

I was really disappointed to see they only offer HIDs and halogens as I would have liked to support a UK company. They should take a look at Ay-Up and make a similar offering - it's not rocket science to bung a couple of cree LEDs in some aluminium cones...

Well, the rumour is that they are about to bring something out. There is even a page that's said to be the new lights. http://www.lumicycle.com/Product/produc ... NIT&dep=87

However, I hope the OP will keep us informed if he manages to get in touch or not.

interesting, my lumicycle battery(MiMH) wore out after 4 good years use and I was holding off replacing to think about going LED, so emailed lumicycle about their current LED offering and got no reply - so started looking into building my own set - not done much yet but read up alot. If lumicycle are coming out with a new LED I might just wait a bit more as the old halogen system I had from them was very good (for the time) and customer service has always been good in the past.

    Hi

When I got my Lumicycle HID a few years ago the guys at Lumicycle were hard to get hold of, they were on holiday or something.

I think my Lumicycle HID is amazing but what's more incredible is the last C+ lights review where they match the Lumicycle Halogen against two £500+ HID's! Yet another useless (or just plain lazy) review in C+.

The more clicks I get the higher it creeps up the google radar :)

    Well, there's always www.solidlights.co.uk

Unfortunately, they're using the old Luxeon K2s at present, so not as good as the latest breed of lamps.
    A very good unit though.

The trick is to build a decent current regulation circuit that doesn't cost the earth, and stick it all in a package that doesn't toast your fingers or dazzle oncoming drivers.

solidlights look quite good - the 3 LED one has impressive beam shots.

I've gone down the DIY route already with 3 x 3w crees in 2 handlebar units and one head lamp. Less than £100 with all batteries, lights and chargers.

Well I got to speak to them and after discussing the problem they've asked me to post the battery back to be looked at (and hopefully fixed). No mention of why they didn't get back to me last week and I didn't push it, but it seems like the age old problem of going from a small company you start with your mates to one which grows and can sustain higher staffing levels and thus customer service when someone is ill.

Anyhow I didn't want to bash lumicycle as I love the lights (35 watt for off roading it lights up half the malverns  and I like to support good british companies. I was just worried in case they'd dissapeared and couldn't repair my lights after a pretty big investment a year ago. I'll post again to let you know if/when I get the fix.

Yeah - They were always quick to respond to my questions, although I eventually bought a Solidlights 1303 as I wanted to go with the LED technology.
Simbil1 - I'm always curious to see how people have done their own lighting rigs - Which company did you buy your LEDs from, got a circuit diagram, and any pictures of your lamp/battery housings?

Only fair to finish off the story as Lumicycle have sorted things out - took a while as when they sent the battery back fixed it immediately blew again once the lamps were on (in the garage not up the hills thankfully) so they had to go back again.

Anyhow aprat from a bit of postage cost they've sorted it and replaced the charger with the newer version so I'm very happy. Keep up the good work lumicycle.
