    Fantastic write up and pictures!! Thanks for sharing this with us. What made you decide to start in July? Mostly I seem to come across people starting from Kashgar in September. But judging by your pictures the weather seemed fine at the start.

    I haven’t read your whole blog yet, but I will.

    I started in July because that was when I could get the time off work, so it was then or never. The disadvantage with travelling then is that it was the rainy season, but the temperatures are more manageable. The rain became more of an issue the further east I went. In the east it was more about the sky being overcast than it actually raining much, but of course the greener scenery further east is like it is because it rains more!

    I guess I'd have preferred dryer colder conditions, but better to do it in imperfect conditions than not at all.
