Sun is out, sky is clear, roads are dry and no wind! Just off for a 90 minute ride along the rural leafy dual carriageways of mid glamorgan on the carbon express. NIce little route over the mountyains of Rudry and Newbridge with a wee TT effort from Newport up the valley past Risca and Cwmcarn. Love it on days like this.

  • I must concur.

A 90 minute run followed by a 90 minute ride for me. Beautiful countryside, sunshine and not a breath of wind.

Now just about to replace all the lost energy with a lovely piece of belly pork that's just come out of the oven and a few ales.

    A fine day indeed.

A quick hilly 10 miles blast in 29 mins Sat afternoon (Felt a bit sick afterwards) - fitting it in between swimming lessons and food shopping.

Sunday - 2.40 for 47 miles - Stockport, Woodhead, Holmfirth, Holmes Moss,
    Stockport and back home......

Good job it wasn't too windy on Holmes Moss, honked over in a 39x21 bottom gear
  • sunday lunch and 3 pints of magners at the welsh cycling annual lunch. 30 minutes on the turbo...not quite the same...

lovely day in Northumberland as well. 75 miles today. Sunny day until around 2 o clock, then got abit cloudy and drizzly rain came over. Not complaining for 4th of november. Before you know it, the days will be getting longer again and the Spring just around the corner. Guess that's when the shitty weather starts again eh :D

The worrying thing I did see is that the reservoirs on Woodhead were completely empty...should be brimming this time of year - just not had enough rain since summer

Sunday - too ruddy foggy here in Cheshire. Spent an hour on the turbo and then when I emerged from the shed the fog had lifted  Still, got some miles in and that's what matters.

What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!

A quick 30 miler for me, followed by roast beef pub lunch, mmmm. Only spoilt by being dragged to watch Stardustin the evening - what a load of sh1te that was.

Sunday morning I couldn't see the end of the driveway due to the fog, the Missus braved it but turned back it was so dense... Sods law by lunchtime it was clear but we then had the inlaws round...

I was making the long drive home from Edinburgh so didn't get out yesterday at all. Plus, I've snapped my pedal off (the thread in the crank may be stuffed) so won't be out today either.
I'm having a curry out in Manchester tonight followed by going to watch Man City. It's the last day of my "holiday" before I really start training hard.

What are you training hard for?
And if you have enough power in your legs to strip the threads from a crank arm / pedal interface, do you really need to be doing any more training :?:

I decided to enter the etape in 2008  I've got a blog! (it should be linked below).
I'm still a beginner really so got lots of training to do before next July.
The power must be because I've got the biggest thighs on the forum :)

As for the biggest thighs on the forum, I dunno, I'm sure that someone will top your 28 inches

Hmmm, I guess Posh Spice measures 24.5cm, but that ain't bad!
Are you going to contribute to the "Big Calves" thread as well :?:
Anyway, I guess you'll be doing some serious distances over the next couple of months or so - if you get out towards the Cat & Fiddle or Buxton way then I'll give you a wave, since I'm going to depart from my usual Delamere route and get some climbing done

That's a good distance - delamere over to the cat and fiddle. I've got a loop planned out from Timperley to wilmslow and then over to the cat and fiddle. I've been over that way before but I went down to the resevoir - the goyt valley I think it's called. That was hard going.

Good terrain around Cat & Fiddle - but those scary bikers sometimes mock me for not wearing enough leather and because my bike doesn't have an engine  Still, at least I don't have an arse like a sofa through sitting on motorbikes all day

Got my winter bike kitted out with a compact chainset to assist me up the hills (34/50) so it shouldn't be as bad as the last time I did it (42 x 21 was best gear available for climbs - it wasn't enough).

If you plan to extend your ride over to Buxton watch out for teeny drivers, they seem to treat the roads around there as some kind of challenge race track :x
