If transporting beer home with bike (in a pannier) should I :

1) Try and stand up to keep weight forward so vibrating it less, for a cool smooth pint?

2) Or sit down as much as possible, to use my buttocks to damp the damaging vibrations?

3) Just put it in a rucsac (despite sweaty back) for un-fizzed beer

Would it not be safer (preventing overloading of your bike) to drink it all before you cycle home?

Ah, the Ray Mears option! Very sensible, until I ride into the canal!

Plus it makes me gasping for a fag

Doesn't matter - just leave it a while to settle before opening

  • Once you get home tap the top of the cans and leave for 5 minutes and they'll be fine

  • I like panniers but rucksacks are always best for anything you don't want bruised or shaken.

    Rucsac

    But leave it to stand

Don't take it on the bike

And quit smoking, it's a filthy habit and will kill you

It's just a hill. Get over it.

  • Simple - always have beer in the fridge, then you can be drinking that while the fresh batch chills and settles.

That requires being reasonable around alcohol.
