Sad news today of the death of Llanelli and Welsh rugby legend Ray Gravell. He was a great rugby player, but an even greater man. The word legend is over used these days, but in our town of Llanelli he really was. A true gent, you couldn't have met a nicer, more genuine man. Thoughts go out to his wife and daughters.

Yep, a sad loss. Always came accross as a great character and even though I'm not a welsh speaker he was good to watch on S4C just for his sheer energy, passion and warmth.0

Yes that is sad news.
I had the honour of sitting with Ray and his wife at the WRU dinner before one of the matches this year. He was irreverant and highly entertaining in person as well as being a legendary player when Welsh rugby ruled in the late 70's and early 80's. RIP.0 -
RIP Ray. I used to meet him regularly when I worked for the BBC in Llandaff. He was, what could only be described as a larger than life character.

Much respect.
The Scarlets payed great tribute last night in their black armbands with 12 on them, 'Grav' embroidered on the shirts and the 59-19 scorelinehttp://twitter.com/mgalex
