hi guys just need to know some info about this rim,i have recently bought some to build as a little project over the winter and need to know a few things.bare with me as im a novice and these questions may sound stupid but here goes!!
the black disc that came attached to the back wheel,is that supposed to stay to protect the spokes when you attach the cassette or not or is is just for transport during delivery purposes?
there was a small silver spacer that came on the hub on the side that the gear cassette goes.is that for use when you are attaching a 7 or 8 speed cassette or is it to be removed before fitting the cassette?
thatnks in advance

the protection disc is optional, some use it and some don't, i personally don't. i don't know how thick the spacer is that you describe but it could well be a spacer for a 7 speed cassette. an 8speed does not require one. If its just a really thin shim then it could be for a snug fit. I have a thin shim on my crossmaxs with a 9speed cassetteWho said gears for queers? i wanna find them...0

yeah the shim is pretty thin and im had the cassette on without it and it felt loose so might have to leave the disc off and put the shim on for a better fit, thanks for the reply mate.0

the shim is there for the reason that mavic use the same body for all there hubs 10 or 9/8spd.
the spoke protector is personal."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
