How long should a saddle last?
the Arionne on my training bike has about 5000 miles on it and is looking a bit tired and ribble are doing them for £50 at the moment so i wondered f it was worth getting a new one.
ps i weigh about 76kg if that matters

This is another 'how long is a piece of string?' question.
It all depends on numerous factors including:
Use or abuse
Type (leather touring/race/etc./etc.)
Initial cost (to a lesser extent)
Rider weight, and on bike positioning
Etc.
5000 miles doesn't seem too bad to me but I'm sure there will be someone along who has had their saddle for 40 years who had it handed down from their great grandfather0 -

- how much of a tart you are
Then you need to either have the latest bling saddle (preferably in white or some other impractical colour) or change it when it gets scuffed.

Now wait a minute, I'm not so old that I won't try some new things. Been riding
E3 Form Gel saddles lately. Very minimal, yet very comfy on the long haul. More of
a sit bone type. They are kind of new and might not be available "over there" assuming
you're somewhere in or near Britainland. www.performancebike.com
