Hello, i am going to convert my Mongoose hardtail into a commuter, i have already put on slicks but need to know if there are any special requirements when buying some rigid forks.

My Mongoose is a Tyax Comp Pro only a year old, pretty much standard size i think.

Your help would be much appreciated, Thanks.

    rigids come in various lengths.

If your current HT runs say, 80mm forks then look for 420mm rigids (crown-to-axle)

If it runs 100m then 440mm rigids would be the closets match

But for road riding its not that important. In fact a shortish fork can work well by quickening the steering.

Just get the right diameter steerer, make sure the steerer is long enough (if buying s/hand) and you'll be fine

On One, Kona, Pace, Orange and many others do cheap rigids
