Right, down to 2 choices, High Roller or Swamp thing? 2.5 downhill size im going for, but i have to ride about 5 miles along tarmac to get to the mud, and its some serious mud at this time of year! which one will cope with the tarmac better and wont wear out as quick, I hear high rollers disintegrate on tarmac, and I notice the swamp things dont have a dedicated centre tread, so i think they may fare better? suggestions?
thanks!

It's going to be a unanimous High roller response with the tarmac involved. Run a 42a compound and they should be as grippy as you'll need but then again, what sort of riding do you do? What sort of surface other than the tarmac do you ride?

Have you thought about one of each? Then you can see if that's enough...

Narrower tyres when its muddy, they will cut through to harder ground and not float on the top like a wider tyre will.
