well he was in the group that hammered past me and my 17yo nephew on the Braveheart ride on Saturday.

Going up pot-holed glorified farm tracks covered in mud and cowshit and all sorts, the elite bunch picked up the guest riders (was David Millar there?) after a few miles and they went on .....fast.

T'was a great ride and first time I've been in ride that........

was being filmed
had team cars( well one, with one replacement bike..presumably for Kelly)
had motorbike escorts (well one  )

Superbly organised......except for finish...nothing, nada, no-one there to welcome young riders (there were a few) over the line

Aye, the elite groups hammered past me at a fair old rate of knots too, though not as fast as the Plowman-Craven rider who skidded to a halt for some reason just in front of me, then hurtled by half a mile or so later drafting the team car in an attempt to catch up with his mates!

Thoroughly enjoyed the ride, and the route was superb. Highlights for me were the muddy lanes out of Galston, and the section out of Muirkirk over the tops back to Sorn. Can't say I particularly enjoyed the bit along the A70, though.
