Anybody know anything about digital cameras?

I'm thinking about getting my missus an entry level digital camera.

I've never really been a photo person though, and know next to nothing about it.

Something light, robust and easy to use/connect to the pc would be ideal.

I quite like the idea of the ones that dock to a mini printer look good.

Is there a decent forum or buyers guide ont'internet?
