Is shock lockout dead?

Looking at may manitou radium shock on my current bike , it has a very useful lockout function that kills bb entirely almost making it a hardtail. Bue shocks that are higher than the radium (swinger, spv) don't seem to have lockout at all, only a form of bob supression that only slightly cancels it out . The only shocks that feature it are DT swiss shocks which start about £300 upwards . Is my function as dead as a dinosaur if i ever have to mod the shock?

Good question and you'll probably get lots of different answers.
In my opinion lockout is pointless unless you're riding on tarmac. I would never lockout off road and think the whole wastage of energy through suspension bob is exaggerated.0 -
my x-fusion on the FSR has lockout.
(Havent used it yet mind  )0
