will this work with a 7 speed as well as the 9 speed

    Yes it will work but a 9 speed chain is narrower so you may experience some rubbing of the chain.

    Cheers thats ok then, as I have already fitted it to my bike LOL. As I had ask the shop for one compatible with a 7 speed and that was what they gave me I did not bother reading the spec on the instructions (just read the fitting bit) until after I had fitted it. It does not rub unless i select the small rear cog and the small front cog and vise versa. And it changes a lot smother than the last one that I had. This is my 3rd one in 2 years as I keep falling off big rocks and braking things LOL
