Mavic rear derailleur

I have a Mavic 840 rear derailleur matched with Mavic 820 shifters. I am considering replacing the shifters with Campagnolo Ergo levers which I believe professional teams of the early 90s used when using bikes that were otherwise equipped with Mavic components.
If this is the case what sprocket pitch and number of sprockets did they use?

Doesn't have the Mavic ones though. If they were using ergo powers, the spacing is probably 5.0mm. Other than that, those parts were made in the twilight of groupset diversity and are hard to find out about0 -
We're going back to 8 speed circa 92 here I think, rather than 9 speed - fortunately gear adjustement was a lot less pernickety than it is now and you should get an 8 speed ergo to run fine as it says here:
