REAR DISC BRAKE

I AM SERVICING A FRIENDS MOUNTAIN BIKE. HE IS COMPLAINING THAT THE REAR DISC BRAKE, WHICH IS AN AVID MAKE, IS MAKING A NOISE WHEN HE BRAKES GOING DOWN STEEP HILLS. HE HAS TAKEN IT TO THE LOCAL SHOP WHO SAID THEY REPLACED THE PADS AND THERE WAS NOT FAULT WITH IT.
I HAVE CHECKED IT OVER, THE PADS NEEDED REPLACING (SHOP HAD NOT CHANGED THEM). WHEN YOU APPLY HEAVY PRESSURE TO THE REAR BRAKE THERE IS A NOISE WHEN THE PADS GRIP THE DISC.
DEEPER SOUND BUT SIMILAR TOO THE NOISE SOME NORMAL BRAKES MAKE WHEN BRAKING. THE BOOKS TALK ABOUT TOEING NORMAL BRAKES TO REDUCE THIS NOISE ON NORMAL BRAKES BUT WHAT CAN BE DONE TO DISC BRAKES.
I HOPE THIS IS EXPLAINED WELL ENOUGH, I HAVE THE ENTHUSIASM BUT LACK SOME OF THE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE!

If the pads and disc are clean, everything tight and properly aligned, then I wouldn`t worry about. I expect it could be brake judder, as it sounds the same as on my Trek. If you look at all those spacer/brackets at the back you`ll see how flexible it can be under heavy braking, compared to the front. Check the caliper is "central" so the pads touch the disc at the same time, yet move clear when released. I tightened mine up with the brake on hard, but it made no difference.

I hope your`re better with brakes than you are with keyboards, as it looks your Caps Lock key is stuck down!
The Wife complained for months about the empty pot of bike oil on the hall stand; so I replaced it with a full one.
