Oh yes. Looks like you've got the same sks mini pump as me :) . I don't know what your experience of riding is but mine was a slick tyred MTB. What a difference, it felt like someone was giving my saddle a push up hills :D . Just get out and ride it before they start salting the roads (I've put mine away for the winter  ) And sooo light.

What size is it ? I've been waiting 3 weeks to be able to order a large. Hope they get some in soon.

  • Looks beautiful!!!! I was also going to ask what size frame it is.

I'm waiting for my letter of collection from Halfords and then I'll have to wait for planet-x to build mine. Maybe I'll have it by Christmas!!!

    Enjoy

    Hi

Just ordered mine today - seems same as yours, black medium with Compact Chainset. Mine also via Halfords Cycle2Work scheme.

I have been to the Planet X premises in Doncaster today to ensure the sizing is correct and to have a ride on a demo bike.

It was an older model with 105 components and Alta whels. I was told new builds with Ultegra and Model C wheelset are lighter and smoother.

After riding a very old specialised hard rock mountain bike with noblies it was fantastic to ride a real road bike and I took it out for about 20 minutes around the local roads.

Now have to suffer the frustrating wait until delivery.

    Enjoy yours.

    Looks schweeeeeet

Have wondered whether the medium would fit me as I am only about 5'10, however as I am about 87kg with a 46" chest I think the larger frame/wider bars will probably be better for me.

I am also waiting for them to get some large frames in - placed my order through the C2W scheme last week, Andy recokons he 'should' get some large frames in in the next couple of weeks. Can't wait to get out on the road.

    Hello Fizz

Nope, still not got it yet . I didn't get my voucher for the cycle to work scehme until a couple of weeks ago, by which time they had ran out of large frames

However, have just looked on the Planet X site and they had a load of new frames delivered 2/11/07 so it should be ready any day now - I'll stick some pics up on 'the other site'' when I get it!

PS - I went for the drops in the end - £999 with full ultegra STI was a stupid deal.
  • Slippery black and stealth like.

    Very tasty machine.

I was told to be gentle on my first ride and dont push too hard....................................your having a laugh, i nearly had a heart attack blastin away, you just have to.

    Enjoy

going out on it in about 40mins with some colleagues (they are firemen by trade but work for my office when off duty) im going to die!

I've planned quite a hard route...
  • Spasypaddy can you read my topic on planet x when you get a chance and maybe let me know what you think of your new steed after your ride. I'm thinking of getting one through bike 4 work too and would be grateful for your comments.

  • Oops, just seen your reply to other topic about new bike. I'm not sure whether to go for medium or large. I'm a nats baw hair under 6 ft which planet xs site says will be a medium. What height are you for your medium?

I saw a bloke commuting on a white one (with red Conti GP4000s) on Friday and it looked pretty stunning bit of kit. 8)

I wonder if he's going to commute on that all winter long... If this winter is like last winter he could end up be the proud owner of a black Planet X.

that was an awesome ride, 35miles 8 of which were climbs :D including some 10% and 8% hills! 11miles were downhill and 16 were flat!

Only negative comments was sometimes i was reaching for the triple chainset and it wasnt there, but thats more to do with the fact that ive barely ridden my new steed (raining...) so im not used to the gearing!

Took it up to 45mph down a hill that i hadn't ridden before, it was an amazing hill with hairpins the lot. The bike ate them up and spat them out, it handles like a dream.

Unfortunately the fireman and firewoman (she is stunning, shes my perfect woman - into cycling, football, and all other sports plus her bottom is incredible!) struggled to keep up, at one point when the road opened up and i knew there was no turns coming up i tagged along with a guy on a Trek Madone (sorry mate) but had to leave him as i had to wait for my friends!

If you are in any doubt about where to spend £1000 on a bike, dont be, get your money to Planet X now and snap the bike up. It is incredible.

I've been invited to go riding in epping forest in a few weeks time, but i dont have a mountain bike anymore...

Simmo - I'm only 5 foot 8 at most, the top tube is very low and the frame feels perfect for me. If you can try and find one to try out, or email them, they are only too delighted to help out!
