Is it just me or does anyone else think that Wiggle overpackage quite a lot of the stuff they send. It's happened to me quite a few times and last night when I got home I found that my small glueless patch kit (about the size and depth of two two pence pieces had come in an a4 padded envelope. To my mind this was a tad unnescessary
Does anyone else think wiggle should review thier packaging?

I agrre, but I generally reuse the packaging so I am fairly happy with this (not bought a jiffy bag for years ). I do admit to having some oversized boxes for small items from them, but everything always arrives undamaged, which is not always the case with other vendors.0

I generally find that their cardboard boxes go nicely in the recycling bin, not so with the plastic envelopes used by some other mail order companies.
Do wiggle branded complementary sweets count as excessive packaging?"A recent study has found that, at the current rate of usage, the word 'sustainable' will be worn out by the year 2015"0 -

I send all my ebay sales in wiggle boxes, using the wiggle internal packaging. I've bought a few things too that have come in what looked like more than double used wiggley boxes. I'd say on that basis its pretty "green" whatever that means... :roll:0

Wiggle use City Link - hence I don't use Wiggle - so in my case this is irrelevant!<b><i>He that buys land buys many stones.

Just because it doesn't affect you it's irrelevant?
Great attitude there.
I try to please!
I have shopped with Wiggle in it's incarnations for some 20 years, and stopped when they started using City Link and no longer allowed customers to pick up. THe packaging usd inmy case has always been ..........................................none!
However I would not reccomend this as a practice for anyone away from the locality - hence in my case this is irrelevant.<b><i>He that buys land buys many stones.

hi guys, hope you don't mind me joining in. all the boxes we use are made with recycled materials and we work closely with our cardboard supplier to be as enviromentally friendly as possible. its great to hear people re-using them as often as possible.
there was a problem with us having only one size of padded envelope before (the A4 size) and we had loads of emails about this so we have now introduced an A5 envelope and your smaller orders should come in these.0 -
Can you confirm that the packaging is indeed made in the UK, from sustainable materials, using no chemical additives or preservatives, and is organically sourced?0

That's not what he said. He said it was made from recycled material.
Wigglerob, I don't suppose you could send me an empty bike box? I have a bike I have to send and nothing to package it in!!
P.S. I must have spent alomst £2000 with wiggle this year if that makes a difference!! :oops:0 -

My most recent 3-4 orders with wiggle have all been delivered by Royal Mail, including packages that previously would have been delivered (or not) by city link. Are wiggle using city link less than in the past?0 -
i think spen might have pulling your leg.
i re-use wiggle packaging as well, often for e-bay sales and what not. they're packaging is one of the delights of wiggle, so let's not mess with it.
given wigglerob is taking an interest, please ditch citylink ... complete jokers. i think they have one "local" depot in london? just use parcelforce ... sure they're not perfect either, but they have a depots all over the place.0 -
Because the price was good I recently bought some items from Wiggle.
City Link delivered and left a card with the wrong number on it. Still we phoned the internet number and were told we could collect.
So we went to collect (8 mile round cycle trip) to find - it was out being delivered.
So we phoned again, they apologised and ensured us that the items were in the depot and could be collected the following day.
Another round trip....... they couldn't find the parcel(thought it might be out on a van?) so again we left empty handed.
Now we get home to find that another card.
Phone to say that we will be uneble to collect again for another 48 hours to be told thatas we haven't collected it it is being returned to Wiggle!
Irate phone call explaining politely and firmly what we thought about this as an option, and a final trip to pick up we were successful.
However not an experience I would repeat.<b><i>He that buys land buys many stones.

yep, i too have had bad service from City Link. They left cards at the wrong address, when i rang them to find out what was going on they told me the shop i live above (which sign for my parcels)was closed down therefore they couldn't deliver. Most certainly was not!! And that was after giving them detailed directions!! So agian gave them dtailed directions to have the same thing happen again. They'd shoved the card through the shutters of some closed newsagents god knows where, and anyone could have picked up the card and gone and collected it. They finally managed to find the correct address on the 4th day, grrr!!!0

None of the major parcel companies are geared up for home deliveries. (and that's speaking as an employee of one!)0
