Wheel compatability.
I'm currently riding a specialized allez elite, and want to get some miles done during the week and at the weekend. I already have a turbo trainer, but to be honest often i cannot be bothered to change the tire every time I want to go on. I'm not in a position to buy another wheel finacialy, but I do have a summer Hybrid bike, which is this http://www.ashcycles.com/power/index.ph ... urrency=BP would i be able to use the back wheel of this on my allez elite, to help save time with changing tires evertime.
Thanks

Hi,
You would need to consider.
1) Are the wheels the same size - your road bike will most likely be 700
2) Are you running the same groupset (e.g. are both shimano)
3) Are both the same speed e.g. 9 or 10 speed blocks?
4) Are the tyres from the hybrid too fat to fit inside your road calipers.0 -
it doesn't have enough gears - your allez elite will be 9speed tiagra is it? and the dawes is 7speed. you might be able to run it in a single predetermined gear but you couldn't change gear and to be honest with the difference in chain thicknesses the 9speed (which is thinner) might not run at all.
just use your own wheels that are on the allez - it might accelerate tyre wear but won't do any damage and thennext spring you can change the tyres and be back on the road.0
