Despite all the allegations and detractors that have come to the surface in the past years, pictures of Lance in full flight at the Tour still stir something deep down in my soul. Weird!

Have a look at L'Equipe picture archive - there used to be a link from the ProCycling site - I think the most iconic images are those from the pre-war years. I have a number of the reproduced prints framed and hung in my workshop as well as a large Flandrian flag - I look at them on those dark winter nights on the turbo. There's also Graham Watson's site - a bit too US-centric for my tastes though. Other classic images includes views of the peloton riding across the fields of Flanders and Roubaix - timelessMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Stephan Vanfleteren has some very iconic pics in his "Flandrians" portfolio:
..............and pretty much any pics from a wet Roubaix somehow sum up everything that makes cycling and bike racing special to me:

Some great stuff here from the 80's - my favourite era
Clicky
Mainly pictures of Hinault (funnily enough) but the rivals section has some great ones in it too:
This is one of the best shots of Lemond ever: Lemond
But probably my favourite shot ever: Fignon
It has everything: drama, the maillot jaune, and most af all that bike!I was only joking when I said
by rights you should be bludgeoned in your bed0 -
I always find the pics of Lance and Ullrich funny. A few have captured Jan looking across to Lance, his face simply saying "for christs sake"
Always liked this picture of Ullrich. I mean, christ, look at those legs!

All of the posts so far have been of pros/racing - this next image is probably what actually gets me out of the front door on a Sunday when the weather is a bit shite (but not this morning you'll note )

I do find that one a bit funny - what a helmet! Love the picture of the guy in the roubaix covered in mud. Those pictures high up mountains make me get butterflies in my tum - I'm going to be doing that next year! Hey, I may even have an inspirational picture of my own to post next July.0 -

The old cobblestone road over the Passo San Gottardo, Switzerland
The Pyrenees:
The Alps:
The Chilterns or North Downs in spring (the good old days when I used to go trail riding every weekend, before I got a road bike)

He looks, in these pictures at least, that he'd be better off playing rugby in the front row!
