Last week on the second day of a new job delivering internet shopping, my own personal Sat Nav was knicked from the cab of the delivery van while I was making my first delivery.

Strangely when I got to my customer's door taking the 2nd load of shopping from the van he was nowhere to be seen for a couple of minutes. I was shouting hello through the doorway but there was no one there. His back door backs on to an alley which I had to pass to get to his front door and he reappeared and told me that he had gone to his back door leading through the garden to save me time.

Got back to the van to find that the windscreen had been attacked and had massive cracks and the side window smashed in broad daylight 3.00pm. The doors were still locked but my Sat Nav was missing. Police were called but just took the details. The thing is that I was bit gutted about it so say the least. The company were OK about me taking a couple of days off.

Anyway I went to go back in yesterday and on the way I felt extremely light headed and sick to the stomach so had to go home ill. This morning felt exactly the same so on discussing with my wife decided to quit the job as I have rationalised it to be stress related. I don't feel comfortable about doing the job anymore but wonder if the way I am feeling right now is maybe the flu or the result of some hard training the last few days or stress related/psychosomatic re the job.

  • That's bad news Mike, but maybe you should consider sticking at it for a while longer? OK maybe take a couple of days to get over it, sort out the insurance etc. If you think that your training is causing it then I'd cut back, normally exercise should make you feel better, including racing otherwise whats the point?
  • Steve I've resigned already. I bought the Sat Nav a few days earlier especially for the job, as the company one wasn't that good. There is no insurance to claim on; certainly the company haven't offered any hope in this respect.

What I have to consider is what's more important; my health or my wallet. Having had two heart attacks, which I believe are stress related, it makes sense to pay attention to any signs of more stress. This light headedness is a bit worrying so I'm taking it easy for a couple of days. I can always get another job.
  • That's a sensible pragmatic approach, hope its sorts itself out soon.
