It all depends on your ass, one persons comfy saddle is another's razor blade.

My fave is the WTB Rocket.

Others swear by the SDG Bel Air

The Gobi Fizik is also highly reguarded.

Try some of your mates saddles, see if you like any of them?

I measured the distance between my sit bones (go to and Specialised dealer and they can do it for you. It just involves sitting on a pad and measuring the distance between the dents) and found that the 2007 standard fitment saddle was spot on for me.

£20 later and I had a new saddle which has proven to be very comfortable thus far.

Saracen Mantra with Marzocchi MX Pro ETA\'s, 24-7 Silverstar pedals... and a map holder.
  • I have the DMR dirt jump saddle (limited version) i find it pretty comfy. You could also have a look at the saddles section on crc find ones you like the look of and if they have user reviews for them have a read see what others are saying.

What type of riding do you do? I'd recommend a SDG Bel-Air of a Charge Spoon.
Learn on a Hardtail or be crap forever!

As others have said, saddle comfort is a pretty personal thing and what works for one person might not for you. That being said I bought a Charge Spoon on the strength of the reviews it was getting and haven't been disappointed (it's not "omg that's super comfy" though...). So if you can't test any out before buying it might be worth trying a Spoon first as they're pretty cheap.
