Focus black forest 2008

I've been thinking about a new MTB for a while and am tempted by the Focus black forest 2008. Has anybody ridden the 2007 bikes? Any good?

I'm a technical-ish XC rider with a bit of 'all mountain' thrown in but definately not a jumper / trickster. Looking for a good climber, fast on the flat and competent downhill...

    "Relatively slender top-tube aside, even a cursory glance at its frame reveals a collection of carefully profiled pipework that promises not to waste a single ounce of rider input in unwanted flex...Given the Black Forest's relatively modest price tag, we'd expected some componentry compromises...but there's nothing to moan about...a Shimano LX and XT transmission matches more expensive bikes...all the finishing kit, from FSA stem and seatpost to Schwalbe tyres, is good, no-nonsense stuff. The Black Forest exudes almost the same air of purposeful authority on the trail as an expensive, autobahn-munching excecutive express on the outside lane of the M25. The difference is, unlike its internally combusted counterpart, buying one isn't likely to make your bank manager wince...the Focus provides keen riders with plenty of get-up-and-go on tap. Stomp on the pedals, mash on the bar,, feel the lactic burn...it's all going straight to the back wheel with nary a hint of disconcerting flex."
    Conclusion: The Focus Black Forest is excellent value, combining a good spec with an extremely well designed and beautifully finished frame. Its rigid frame structure won't suit everyone, but there's no doubt that it can hold its own against tough competition from big name manufacturers. German design and build quality at a price that should worry some of the competition

    Thanks, I've read only good reviews for the Focus bikes but it would be great to hear from an owner if there''s one out there..?

    I agree, it would be nice to hear from any focus mtb riders. I am considering a focus first. But are they as good as wig say they are?
