Tyre Blow Out

Went for a Sunday ride around the North Face at Grizedale today. However en-route heard a loud bang from the back of the car. On inspection my brand new (used once round the local park) Panaracer Fire XC pro, had blown out and had a large hole in the side wall. On inspection the tyre was warm around the hole and i noticed my bike carrier had partially collapsed and that the rim was only around 10 cm`s from the exhaust. I put it down to heat from the exhaust, but now i`m not sure.

I managed to get the exact match for the tyre at Grizdale visitors centre and really enjoyed the ride with no further problems.

Do you think its worth contacting the place of purchase of the original tyre/ the manufacturer, as all the tread etc is brand new? Or do i just take it on the chin and put it down as "one of those things".

Other than that it was a great day.

Cheers P

  • It'd be awfully coincidental if the carrier problem and the blowout were totally unrelated, don't you think? I'd say this is one you need to just put down to experience.

    Glad you enjoyed your day!
Even if the voices aren't real, they have some very good ideas.
