Frame Paint Damage

Can anyone recommend a type of paint that would adhere to aluminium and provide the same, or better, level of protection as the standard factory finish?
Its a black Specialized Rockhopper Disc 2007 with some nasty paint chips, getting on for the size of a 5 pence piece, on the underside on the seat stays. As well as some chips to the underside of the down tube and also on the fork lowers (Black Tora's).
My initial guess at a paint type would be a Humbrol semi-gloss, like model-makers use, but I don't want to get it wrong!
