new hubs

Looking for disc compatible hubs for 700 wheels for touring and commuting. My thoughts are
Shimano XT etc - would prefer cartridge bearings and the XT rear hubs have bad reputation
Hope Pro II - overpriced and am not sure about the radial contact bearings
DT 340 - possibly not overpriced but expensive
Anybody knows Sun-Ringle Disc Jockeys? Anything else you would recommend?
BTW the rims are Sun ME14A.
Cheers

OK no response - perhaps people are put off because I mentioned 700 wheels. But that's irrelevant. Basicaly I need some durable lightweight disc comp hubs with cartridge bearings for low maintenance. What about Halo spin doctors, I've read some good reviews?0

Why do you say the Hope Pro II's are over-priced? Is the machining and finishing not worth the price-tag?
They are designed and machined to be a Cross-Country/Off-Road hub. The respect they have with many experienced riders is proof enough that they are worth the investment for that type of riding.Specialized Rockhopper '07

How many hoes in the rim?
alloy cassette carrier or steel? (or Ti)
how much do you want to spend?
Pro 2's are not as nice as the Bulbs."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

There are 32 holes in the rim. I'd prefer steel cassette body but alloy would do. As to money, I don't want to spend too much over £100 per pair, although I'm reluctantly considering the DT 340s at £200.

Perhaps the Hope XC hubs would fit - they are almost twice cheaper than the Pro IIs and similar, even come with a steel cassette carrier I think. Even if they are being discontinued, spares would be available for some time, wouldn't they?
Sorry for being so persistent.0 -
End of an Era We have finally decided to stop production of the long running XC, Mono and Big Un' hubs. Since the introduction of the Pro2 and subsequently Pro3 hubs, the 3 different ranges have been superseeded by just the one. We will still honour warranty claims (as usual) and most spares will be available for some time, although these will start to dwindle over time. Items such as bearings are not affected as they are a stock item."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
