Fitting / removing tight tires

Back again with another problem..
3 tire leavers down with a bad temper and a scratched rim from the long screwdriver I managed to change my continental gravity 2.3 tires to continental travel contacts 1.95.
I really can't be doing with it every time I want to go ride trails. There isn't a chance I could afford another bike to do it or even another wheel set..Then there is punctures. Ahhhh
I guess there is a technique to getting them off or something? I really don't know, all my tires in the past have just slipped off. I was thinking about getting either VAR tire leavers or crank brothers speed leaver But there is a guy on the reviews who has said it didn't budge his travel contacts.
I've also seen a park one but it is designed as a work shop tool (heavy and bulky) and costs 20 quid.
Anyway the rim I've been fighting with is DDM1 from a Fury. One of my friends has trouble with this rim and a cheap slick tire.
Just after any info on what I can do to make my life easier Will any of the said leavers be useful?

buying a new leaver wont help you much... if you are just changing at home cover the rim in washing up liquid and spread it over the rim/tyre...if you are out on the trails you will just have to do it normally..i know what you meani had the same problem on my norco a-line  ....second time i had to do it i was throwing the old tyres away so i got a stanley knife and cut it off..if you do that dont push to hard or you will go in to the innertube but i have about 30 inner tubes i got free in my shed so i wasnt to bothered..0

Sounds like you got some MTB tyres with a 558 bead and not a 559 bead  No tyre levers will help you on that score.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0
