Paul Hewitt has been highly recommended by others - he's in Leyland.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Ok, I exagerated a bit! Covent Garden is about 140 miles away. So Stoke is actually very close from here! The Paul Hewitt suggestion is very interesting as I'll probably buy a new bike in the spring, so it might be worth buying a bike from there and getting it set up at the same time.

The bike specialists at Sub4 in Stoke on Trent are Ken Matheson and Yvonne McGregor - who know a thing or two about riding bikes. Very very highly recommended. Not just good at what they do - also exceptionally nice people.

While getting fitting advice from a local bike shop is great if you're not sure how it's
done please remember that the shop wants to sell you a bike that they carry and will probably have a bike in stock that will fit you or can get one quickly.
There is an abundance of literature out there about bike fit, especially on the web.
Most of the sites claiming that their way is, of course, the only way. In the end most of
these ideas are basiclly the same. Some offer computer fits that cost bunches and have
never been, and I use this word loosely, proven by any testing with published results
and then peer reviewed by anyone. They are only "claims". Adding the word "computer"
fitting seems to be an attempt to give the whole process an air of newness and
infallaibilty and justify cost.
So how to fit a bike??? Find an older rider or two and get their ideas. ther might be old but they probably know a thing or two.
Hmmmm, maybe I'll put my bike fit thoughts on this blog a little later.
