hi - i have a Wrench Force track pump and I need to blow my tires up to 110psi. the problem I have is as follows: just recently when I have used the pump at 80 psi it blows off the valve. This means I need to hold the nozzle onto the valve and awkwardly pump to hit the 110psi. It's really annoying. Anyone come across this and am I doing something really stupid that is causing this...bearing in mind I've had the pump a year and it's only started to happen. Cheers

My Specialized track pump does this, it's about 8 years old now, I think the rubber parts inside the valve head just get worn. I just put a small strap round the rim and pump head and it holds it in place (its one of an old car bike rack). Alternatively you may find a n ew pump head might solve the problem, I think the Topeak twin head head and hose is a universal fit, at £12.
  • thanks for the advice. I'll try and replace the head as it looks like this is probably the best option. cheers

do what i do, and stop by a garage and use a car pump, one quick press (about one 1second of pumping) and your nice and pumped up.

A track pump is far better, it's easier to get a more accurate tyre pressure.

Most LBS carry a range of pump spares - you'll probably find that they have a replacement for the inside of your valve head or can get one for you - many OEM branded pumps are made by the same company and so use the same spares - I think Truflo and Wrench Force amongst others are similar
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
