white jersey for 30+ male?

Is it bad form for a man, at an age when many pros consider retiring, to think about buying the Giro d'Italia white (youth) jersey? I've got a Dauphine yellow, and a Tour polka-dot, without ever having any pretensions to "earning" them, so what difference is there in buying a white jersey?

No more than its bad form to wear any of the jerseys when you wouldn't last a few mins in th ecompany of those who actally win them. That said, why? Although, wear what you want, its still a free country.0

White is the new .......... (insert previously 'trendy' colour).0

It's one of a long list of things to drool over at Prendas. I like their white/pink 'Gazzetta' Giro jersey too, but the pink might put me off. Enough jokes at work about lycra without fuelling them by coming in wearing pink!kop van de wedstrijd0

It's just a jersey so buy what you like.0

Go for it man! And what's wrong with pink? I feel I look most dapper in my pink T-Mobile jersey.
*Although some will tell me I look a tit...0 -
yehhh! go for it if you like it. Pink is great - I wear pink giro italia tops too, although I am a girl. I contemplated buying the polka dot jersey despite being the build of a huge sprinter rather than a climber. I haven't bought it yet but will do if I see a cheap one online.
Personally I wouldn't want to worry about washing a white top though.0 -

What exactly does that look like??? :shock:0 -
well, I imagine a typical climber to look a bit wiry and a typical sprinter to be more muscular. I'm definitely not a skinny waif and some of the school mums call me she-ra when they see me carrying children on each arm. I think I would snap tom boonen in half!
Actually, I'm tall but just a normal ish size. It's just when I try on cycling clothes that I'm made to feel like a giant - they're all seem to be sized so small.0 -
Hre's th clincher just look at some football kits, and this has the class of the cyclist!!
Buy it, wear it, make a statment i'm in the 30's too.http://twitter.com/mgalex

Go for it. I got the pink giro one from prendas as soon as it came out. There's no way you can look as bad as me in mine . It counts as a high visibility jersey. It's so bad it made my daughter cry when she saw me in it the first time. On a side note I normally wear a large size jersey. The large size giro one was very tight around the waist  . I'm not fat but I don't sport a six pack either.0

Go for it, there are too many cycling fashion snobs on the internet who don't think you should wear a jersey you like.
You must earn the right to wear a Giro white jersey... They should chill out a little.0 -
I have a polka dot jersey, mainly because it was only £20 straight after the Tour, and being a poor student, you have to grab what you can when you can. I d feel a bit self concious in it sometimes, then remember its the same as a kid wearing a Man U shirt to football practice.0

A good point indeed. There used to be a couple of threads of RCUK about how if you bought a GB national team jersey or a trade team jersey you didnt deserve it as you didnt have the right to.
It's akin to saying if you dont have a contract with Riis Cycling you shouldn't wear Team CSC socks
But since they upgraded the software over there I haven't been able to get on the forums at work without it crashing my IE, so you will have to search for it.0
