...is apparently considering taking a break from cyclocross and taking to the track. She had tried the track a couple of years ago but found it too much on top of the road and 'cross racing.
It appears she has been doing some sessions on the Alkmaar track with a view to the Olympics.

Well, since CX isn't an Olympic sport you can see why she might give it a go! It's hard to believe she wouldn't be a very talented track rider once she'd got used to it. Will be very interesting to see if she appears on the track in Beijing and if so, how she fares.

  • also be interesting to see what event she goes for given that she can clearly sprint. I'd imagine she'd plump for the pursuit, but both the sprint and points race might suit her too, although the former would surely be too tricky for her to get the hang of from a tactical point of view given her other commitments. Maybe she'll end up in the points race with Nicole in Beijing

And for anybody that wasn’t following the event in Beijing, Marianne Vos won Gold in both the Scratch and Points races – two impressive performances. 8)
    I’m a sprinter – I warmed up yesterday.

Did she? Thanks for that Eddy, that completely passed me by. Serves me right for only looking at the UK-centric BC reports.

    What an amazing talent! :D

Ruth, you should have been watching the free coverage on cycling.tv - I did post a link! tsk, tsk 8) :)

The track specialists should be worried for the Olympics points race on the strength of those measured performances. And there wasn't even a mention in Cycling Weekly - you have to go to cyclingnews.com to see a report.

I always catch up on the news with cyclingnews, precisely because the British ones seem so parochial by comparison.

Rochelle Gimore is another roadie who dips her toe into the trackie's waters by riding the scratch & points races.

Three world titles in three different disciplines. Has she competed in MTB yet?
