Measuring chain length with a bash guard

I have previously measured chains by putting it over the biggest front chain ring, biggest cog at the back and adding one link. However I have now changed my crankset to two rings and a bashguard (my old big ring was starting to look like a bashguard!) So how do I meaure my new chain? I'm assuming its the same except using the middle ring ie ending up with a shorter chain?
Anything else I should be aware of with a bashguard?

you do the same as before. of you hve any device fitted make sure that is "in use" when you work out the length.
