Measuring chain length with a bash guard

I have previously measured chains by putting it over the biggest front chain ring, biggest cog at the back and adding one link. However I have now changed my crankset to two rings and a bashguard (my old big ring was starting to look like a bashguard!) So how do I meaure my new chain? I'm assuming its the same except using the middle ring ie ending up with a shorter chain?
Anything else I should be aware of with a bashguard?

you do the same as before. of you hve any device fitted make sure that is "in use" when you work out the length."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
