I can't seem to fix my slipping gears, when I'm in my lowest gear at the front and the lowest two or three gears at the back, when climbing th e gears/chain constantly slips under pressure. i've so far changed the chain (the rear cogs are still reasonably new) and fitted a new cable, but still no joy?? Could it be the rear mech? any ideas? It's only on the really low gears, drivng me mad when i need to climb.

set them up correctly? is it the free hub slipping?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

if the chain is really slipping then the cogs or the chain are worn.
the chain is the correct length?
and you are talking about when using the small fron and big rears (size)"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Yes, small at the front, big at the rear - brand new chain - set up correctly and correct length. Maybe the rear cogs are already worn, seems odd through.0

i'd suggest checking the hanger. is it true? check to make sure the cogs are tight enough on the hub.Only the meek get pinched. The bold survive.0

i think you may be right , the hanger is knackered - does this mean a new rear mech?0

when you cahnge a chain, yopu're supposed to change the cassette too.
also, could be the derrailleur pivots are worn out. i had that problem last year on my gt,. tried allsorts, but was fixed with a new mech.I said hit the brakes not the tree!!
