Depends what you mean by benefit....

They are lighter, they reduce trail buzz (a bit).

As I say depends what benefit you're after.....

id heard they help a bit with the 'trail buzz' but wondered wehther that was true or just the saleman trying to get me to part with my money, but also wondered if it was worth parting with £50 and apart form weight, was there any other benefits.
  • Just bought some RF Deus bars and stem from Chain Reaction for £60 together.Nearly as light as some carbon bars (210g),less problems with stems, and much cheaper to boot.

I have carbon bars,on my road bike though. They do help filter some of the buzz out from the road, but some decent grips would make a bigger difference.

Or gloves! But carbon does help filter out buzz and other knocks and bumps. On my hardtail it can feel (a little bit) like a full suss as long as the drops aren't too big.

It's al relative and depends what your changing from.

I had an os truvantiv team riser bar which came with my bike and it was as WMB said wrist jarringly stiff. Swapped it for a truvantive os carbon riser and the difference is quite noticeable, just by pushing down hard on the bars whilst statiionary there is flex where there was none with the old bar. Out on the trail over gravel and stuff it feels like I have dropped the tyre pressure by 5psi. And there seems to be no difference in steering accuracy.

If your coming from a more flexible alloy bar you probably wont notice much difference. My new bar cost £50 off CRC and alghough it is not as light as the easton stuff it had the benefit's I wanted.

read this about the CNT technology - it compares its strength to other materials - may just be a marketing ploy - who knows
