you used to be able to get Dura Ace in 103. You'll have to search though.
Phill Wood is a good place to try . Not cheap but very good. Hope may also be able to build you one up.
I take it it's a square taper? Shimano or Campag?Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
What model of crank - need to know whether it's JIS or ISO taper? FWIW Campagnolo Record and Chorus are 102mm ISO taper.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

If it's ISO FSA do a 68/103 .
Available from Wiggle
Sit down before you look at the price. £70ish
It's very light though0 -
Thanks for the replies.
My chainset is a Sugino is this likely to be a JIS or ISO taper?0 -
Sugino chainsets are compatible with Shimano tapers which are JIS.
Unfortunately the size you need seem to be discontinued as stock items on the sites I have looked at.0 -
If you can manage with a 102mm then the Ambrosio X-Carbos are available in 68 x 102 JIS for £20:

I don't know whether that's 102mm symmetrical or not, or indeed what yours is - best give them a ring.
Also the FSA Ultimax is available in 68 x 103 JIS, but only in the £60+ Ti spindle version I think.0 -

That looks like your best bet jhop. You can always squeeze the chainstay in a mm or two or get a smaller chainring if it catches.Though I doubt it will catch with such a tiny difference.0 -
Thanks I will get moving on this and follow up the references given with a view to sorting this out by next week..0

Higher quality Sugino (and Sugino-made but otherwise badged) cranks often/usually use "Campag" (ISO) tapers. These will also work with JIS BBs, but you will need to use a 2-3mm shorter axle to get the same chainline if you are doing this.
If it's 103mm, the only "common" crankset to use this length was the DA-7410, which used an axle with a shorter-than-normal JIS taper. There are probably substitutes still available for this (ie Phil Wood), otherwise if it's really ISO taper, something Campag may be easier to get - but only in Chorus or Record. I'm afraid that there are no cheap options in this length, however, there are quite a few more in 107mm - provided this doesn't destroy the chainline.0 -
I run a Sugino crank on a Campag 102mm BB on my track bikeMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

As the BB that has gone is less than one year old LBS have contacted manufacturer and it is to be replaced free of charge under guarantee. I guess this only delays the issue of me getting a replacement myself but I will take up their offer for now and should be alright for this winter. I remain confused over whether my chainset requires a Campag or Shimano compatible taper though as it seems like both have been used by others with some success.0

Both ISO and JIS tapers use the same angle. The difference is the size of the taper; JIS > ISO. What can happen is that a JIS crank can bottom on an ISO taper axle, at either end of the taper.
Conversely, fitting an ISO crank to a JIS axle can mean that the crank won't go on far enough; in any case, the crank will protrude slightly further from the frame, even with the same length axle. This is typically only about 1-1.5mm, so may not be an issue.
Then there are weirdo BBs like the aforementioned DA-7410. This used a JIS taper, but with shorter flats than usual. The result was that some ISO taper cranks worked okay with it, but some JIS taper cranks (ie Deore XT) would bottom on the end of the flats. Everything would appear to be okay at first...0 -
How exactly do you ascertain which is the actual taper for a given chainset ?0
