How to fix Camebak reservoir with hole in it?

Somehow (I suspect my youngest daughter) managed to puncture/put a small hole in my camelbak reservoir  . Being pretty new, I don't want to have to buy a new reservoir so am trying to figure out how to fix it.

I thought about an inner tube patch, but figured the glue was probably not the best thing to be drinking on a frequent basis.

Anybody have any other ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks

is it a clean hole or a little rip, i got one in mine a few month ago which was about 1cm but wasnt a hole it was only about 0.5cm width, mine was just a rip so i got some matches and burnt it back together, just held the match near it and melted it a little then pushed it together  still works now :)
  • Its a puncture, like it got caught on something and was then tugged, so the hole is about 2 to 3 mm across.

But thats a good idea - heat it up and try and weld the plasctic back together. I'll try it tonight.

Maybe even see if I can get a piece of strong (food based) plastic and even "weld" that over the hole if the original trick doesn't work.

    Thx
  • Some sort of water resistant tape (sellotape?) stuck from the inside of the reservoir. The water pressure will hold it on, not push it off.

    Just an idea :)

I previously tried to repair one but ended up buying a new one as the repair failed while out on a ride

When we wake up in the morning, we have two simple choices. Go back to sleep and dream, or RIDE.

    The choice is yours...
  • use a paddling pool repair patch, they're sticky as fook, and should stay on for ever
  • Depending on the size of the hole id be tempted to take it back to where you bought it as most of the camelbak range have lifetime guarantee's.

I had a similar problem with mine and they exchanged it after a years use no quibble or fuss it might be worth a shot.
  • Patch it with one of those simple "pre glued" jobbies - from the inside - and then fill it with water immediately (to hold the joint intact.)

Ps - to avoid any nastyness, just wipe it with an anti-bacterial cloth, soak for a while and drain / flush a couple of times.
