Stem mayhem

Proper spellings! sorry!
After some advice please.
I have a GT Zascar and the stem seems very long compared to my mates Trance 2. Even with the seat as forward as possible i am stretched out abit.
I seemed to be able to climb better on his ( feel more "on top" of the bike).
Just wondering if buying a short one with more angle would be better?
If so any recommendations?
Cheers.

I had same problem with my Scott. Got large frame and after a few weeks felt a little stretched. Got a slightly shorter stem (same angle) down from 120 to 100mm and now feels great. Would suggest - if you can- try some stems. However not always easy to do and I found I could only feel the impact after riding quite a few miles (the long stem gave me a little back ache, whreas the shorter one is fine.
Couldn't really say about changing angle though!0
