I have a wheelset with Hope Pro II hubs currently set up for QR. I got the conversion kits for 20 mm front and 12 mm thru rear. There were no instructrion included and could not find any on Hope's website either. It looks like a simple enough job, but if anyone around here has done it, I would appreciate any advice you can give.

Thanks. So no need for any special tools?

just care and attention to where things were.

a drift, small screw driver, hammer. and a box to put the bits in.

No circlips in the front QR, held in by o-ring resistance only. Just need a good pull to get out - save you scratching your head looking for circlips :D

looked like C clips on the ones i had in my hands on thursday as the cups were rattling like the old bulbs.

i would have thought an O ring would have held them snuger?

The 20mm spacers fit inside the bearings and are held in place by o-rings. The 20mm spacers can't fit inside the bearings because the full bore needs to left clear for the axles so they are supplied with circlips to hold them in place.

What I've never done is try the circlips with the QR stubs to see whether they will fit, but I can assure you that when Hope supply the hub as a QR hub, no circlips are provided.

yes? and the 20mm cups are held in place by C clips.

Just as a note the 20mm cups on the Pro 2 are the same size so there is no isues with getting it worng or using them on the wrong sides to help with any poor dishing or disc placement.

Are you trying to imply you were right all along. :?

This whole debate was sparked by you saying remove the circlips as the first step in converting from QR and me saying there are no circlips on the QR just so the OP wasn't looking for a part that wasn't there. I didn't say the 20mm spacers don't use circlips, on the contrary.

While doing this conversion I though it might be a good idea to have a set of spare bearings handy. So I check what CRC has to offer and they have different sets for rear QR and 12 mm. I thought the new 12 mm axle fit in place just as well as the old QR axle, but now I'm getting all paranoid about it. Should I?

Edit: [see for yourselves, I'm not making this up http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... odelID=588 ]

That doesn't seem right to me, The bearings they specify there are for bulb 12mm 3x 6902, 1x 6002 correct. For bulb QR 2x 6902, 1x 6001, 1x 6002 correct.
For Pro II, there should be 6903 bearings in the non drive side, and the freehub. But I can't confirm this from Hope's website, so i'll have to look up my current tech docs at work tomorrow, and get back to you. These are for 135mm BTW 150mm may be different.
But I'll confirm tomorrow for you with all relevant spacings etc.

And yes, the front hub spacers for QR are an interference fit with "o" rings, and no clips.

For 135mm hubs, 2x6903 in the hub body, And 1x 6902, 2X 6802 in the freehub.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
